    Seton Hall Prep Announces Sterling Gibbs ’11 as Head Basketball Coach

    It is with great pride and excitement that we announce Sterling Gibbs as the next Head Basketball Coach at Seton Hall Prep. Sterling, Class of 2011, returns to his alma mater after a decade of playing professional basketball around the globe. The Scotch Plains native began his collegiate career at the University of Texas before transferring and earning his undergraduate degree from Seton Hall University, and his Master of Arts in Educational Psychology from the University of Connecticut.
  • Seton Hall Prep Announces Leadership Change in Basketball Program

    Seton Hall Prep’s administration has determined that a change in leadership for our Basketball program is appropriate at this time. We are thankful for Coach Kevin Williams’ many years of service both as head coach and as an assistant. Kevin Williams will continue in his roles as Varsity Golf Coach, Freshman Soccer Coach, and History Teacher at Seton Hall Prep. We are proud to announce that Sterling Gibbs, Class of 2011, will take over as Head Coach. More on Sterling’s hiring will be announced in the coming days.

    SHP Swimming broke four school records, sweeping all three relays at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions this last weekend!

    Wrestling Breaks School Record, Sending 8 to AC

    Congratulations to our 8 student-athletes who have earned a trip to Atlanta City to compete in the NJSIAA State Tournament following a record-setting performance at Region 1 this weekend.
     
  • Despite Fastest Effort, Pirates Fall Short in NJSIAA North Final

    Despite swimming their fastest meet of the year, the SHP swim team went down to defeat in the NJSIAA Non-Public North Final, losing 90-80 to Bergen Catholic.  The meet was held on Presidents Day at Neptune Aquatic Center.

    Wrestling had 8 1st-place finishes at District 3, 11 advance to Regions

    The Pirates cruised to a comfortable home win over Central High School on Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2024. 
  • Bowling wins Essex County Championship

    SHP bowling has a huge day with a season best 3,297 series, with all five starting bowlers finishing in the top 12 to qualify for the County's Individual Tournament
  • Swimmers Advance to North Final with a Big Victory

    In their best performance of the season, the SHP swim team scored a decisive 103-67 victory over St. Peter’s Prep in the NJSIAA Non-Public North Semifinal held February 12 at the Yanitelli Center in Jersey City. 
  • Swim Team advances to North Semifinal

    The SHP Swim Team defeated Oratory Prep 124-46 on Thursday February 8 at NJIT in the 2nd round of the NJSIAA Non-Public North Tournament. 
  • Basketball knocks off East Orange, advance to ECT Semis

    The Pirates defeated East Orange Campus HS 67-61 to advance to the Essex County Tournament Semifinals

    Bowling wins Battle at Bristol

    SHP Bowling won the Battle at Bristol tournament in Croydon, PA on Saturday! Desi Cavanaugh ‘24 took the 2nd highest series with a 643. 
  • Indoor Track places 2nd in Essex County Championship

    Indoor Track & Field placed 2nd in the Essex County Championship meet yesterday at Ocean Breeze!

    SHP Swimming defeated Summit at the Summit YMCA by a score of 103.5-66.5
  • Hockey beats Peter's, Goal earns Sportscenters' #2 Top Play

    The Pirates defeated St. Peter's Prep 5-0, as Junior Matthew Smith scored a "Michigan" goal which was highlighted on ESPN's Sportscenter

    SHP bowling improves to 10-0 with a season best 3,264 series. Riley Gnecco ‘26 lead the way with a 761 series and 269 high game.

    SHP Hockey hosted Cancer Awareness night, as longtime faculty member Sharon Rondinella dropped the night's first puck.

  • Swimming wins SEC/County Championships behind Record Setting Performances

    The SHP Swimming Team won the Super Essex Conference and Essex County Championships on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day at the Jersey Aquatic Center in New Providence.  
  • Coach Bob Farrell Honored With Wootten Lifetime Achievement Award

    The legendary former Seton Hall Prep basketball coach, Bob Farrell, is being presented the prestigious Morgan Wootten Lifetime Achievement Award, an honor bestowed on a select group of scholastic hoops coaches around the nation, at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame at Springfield College in Springfield, Mass., this weekend in conjunction with the Spalding Hoopball Classic.

  • Wrestling wins big at Livingston

    The Pirates beat the Lancers 61-12 on Wednesday night
  • Marty Berman Named National Coach of the Year

    Seton Hall Prep Soccer Head Coach Marty Berman H'05 has been named the United States Soccer Coaches Association's private/parochial boys National Coach of the Year for 2023. Marty's Pirates captured finished No. 1 in NJ upon capturing their third NJSIAA Non-Public A State Title in the past four attempts.
