Vincent K. McInerney, M.D. graduated from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in 1977 with honors as one of the top medical students in his class and member of the ALPHA OMEGA ALPHA Honorary Medical Society. Dr. McInerney was one of the first sports medicine fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeons in New Jersey, having completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School, Boston Massachusetts. Dr. McInerney was also one of the first arthroscopic surgery-trained sports medicine fellows at the Harvard Medical School Program. He returned to New Jersey in 1982 to establish one of the busiest, cutting-edge Sports Medicine practices in the NJ/NY Metropolitan area. He is Assistant Dean, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Director of Sports Medicine and team physician at Seton Hall University School of Health and Medical Sciences. He and his partners’ special expertise includes arthroscopic and reconstructive knee and shoulder surgery, minimally invasive surgery, total joint replacements, regenerative medicine, and children’s and adult sports medicine.
Dr. McInerney is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), past board of trustees and research committee member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM), past education and research committee member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA). He is currently the longest-standing committee chairman of the Medical Society of New Jersey’s (MSNJ) Committee on Medical Aspects of Sports. He has also served as past president of the New Jersey Orthopaedic Society (NJOS), where he is currently chairman of the education committee, past president of the Academy of Medicine in New Jersey, and past president of the Garden State Games. Dr. McInerney has been recognized as Medical Educator of the Year in New Jersey as part of the Edward J. Ill Excellence in Medicine Awards He has served as team physician and medical coordinator for the United States Olympic Team Handball Federation, Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is the Medical Director of P.A.S.T., the Retired Athletes Pain Management and Medical Resource Group and has treated numerous retired NFL, NBA, and MLBB players. He is team physician for Montclair State University, NJ Jackals Professional Baseball Team at Yogi Berra Stadium, and 15 area high schools.
Dr. McInerney has received the Physician of the Year Award for the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Physician of the Year Award for the Passaic County Medical Society, and Educator of the Year Award at Seton Hall University. He is a member of the Harvard Medical Alumni Association.
Dr. McInerney is a native New Jerseyan and has lived in Morris County almost his entire life.
