  • About Head Coach, Sterling Gibbs '11

Sterling Gibbs began his basketball career as the starting point guard at Seton Hall from 2012 to 2015 before transferring to UCONN, where he continued in the same role for the 2015-2016 season. Following his college career, he played professionally overseas in Hungary, the Dominican Republic, Russia, Greece, France, Belgium, Poland, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and Slovenia. In March 2024, Sterling was named head coach of Seton Hall Prep High School, where he is the second all-time leading scorer and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame in 2022. He is the fourth coach in the history of Seton Hall Prep. Coach Gibbs prides himself on being relatable to young players, drawing on his recently concluded playing career to provide firsthand knowledge and guidance to young athletes. Additionally, utilizes his Master’s degree in Educational Psychology to serve as a full-time employee in the school counseling department, ensuring he is a consistent and familiar presence throughout the school year.
  • Camp Highlights

The primary focus of Pirate Prospect Camp is to give prospective Seton Hall Prep athletes the opportunity to train with current student athletes, develop strong relationships with potential teammates, and showcase their own basketball abilities to the SHP basketball coaching staff. Furthermore, players will continue to develop game specific skills that will be emphasized through small group stations, drills, and organized games/contests. Each camper will receive individualized instruction throughout  camp and feedback at the end of camp from Coach Gibbs and the SHP basketball staff.
  • Camp Philosophy

As a Seton Hall Prep basketball community we will continue to cultivate a competitive program of high quality young men. Young men who wish to work hard and to be part of something bigger than themselves. Young men who exude class and decorum on and off the court and strive to become better each day as athletes and even more as men.  When our players put on their blue and white SHP uniforms or step onto Farrell Court we shed our ego and depend on one another. We are “all in together.” It starts with ourselves but cannot happen without each other, past and present.
