Toms Hut '21 Drafted by NYRB in MLS SuperDraft

Seton Hall Prep alumnus, Tomas Hut '21, was drafted by the New York Red Bulls in the first round of the 2026 MLS SuperDraft with the 28th overall pick on December 18, 2025. The 2019 SHP state champion played two seasons at Army before transferring to Syracuse for the 2023 season.
He captained the Orange and appeared in 54 games throughout his collegiate career, starting in 51 of them. Over four years of play, he made 173 saves and recorded 17 shutouts. Throughout his career, Hut made his mark in the SU record book, standing in seventh place in goals against average (1.30), holding the tenth-place spot for most wins (16) and is tied for seventh place in solo shutouts (12).

"I couldn't be prouder and happier that Tomas was rewarded for his incredible hard work and outstanding performances by being drafted in the first round of the MLS SuperDraft, and it's even sweeter that he is going to be playing close to home with New York Red Bull," commented Head Coach, Marty Berman H'05. "We are blessed to have such loyal and supportive alumni, and the relationship that Tomas has maintained with us coaches and the squads that followed him are a perfect example of what this brotherhood is all about. He often attends summer workouts with the team and has worked multiple Pirate Soccer Camps and Prospect Clinics since graduating from The Prep."

Tomas competed as a Pirate for three years. During his junior season in 2019, he helped the team to a 22-1-1 mark, which concluded with a Super Essex Conference, Essex County Championship, and a Non-Public A State Championship. Hut made 96 saves during his junior season as the team conceded only five goals. The following year he captained the squad during a truncated season due to Covid, in which the team won the 2020 NJSIAA Northeast Region Championship.

Tomas becomes the third SHP alumnus selected in an MLS SuperDraft. Mason Toye '17 was selected 7th overall by Minnesota United in 2018 after finishing his freshman season as a NCAA National finalist at Indiana University. Mason currently plays for Sporting Kansas City. As a Pirate, Mason was a United Soccer Coaches All-American and led SHP to a Non-Public A Sectional title in 2016. Jon Okafor '07 was selected in the third round of the 2011 MLS Super Draft with the 40th overall pick by Chivas USA. The midfielder helped Brown University advance to the final-16 of the 2010 NCAA Championship.
