Basketball heads to NJSIAA Semis on Special Night

Junior Anthony Gonzalez scored a game-high 19 points, including the 1,000th of his career, to help lead The Pirates to a 68-47 victory over seventh-seeded DePaul in the North Jersey, Non-Public A quarterfinals at Frank J. Tracey Gymnasium in West Orange.
Gonzalez, a junior, needed just 87 seconds to reach the milestone when he hit a 3-pointer off a feed from Avery George. Gonzalez, who now has 1,016 career points, officially passes Assistant Coach Steve Ricciardi '97 (1,006 points) on the all-time scoring list, moving into 18th. He is the 19th Pirate to ever reach the 1,000 point milestone.

Highlights

Freshman Bryce McCray came off the bench and had 13 points, four rebounds and three assists in the win. Nine of those points came in a 25-8 second quarter that gave Seton Hall Prep a 20-point lead heading into halftime. Junior Avery George added 12 points in the win.
