On Tuesday, October 12th, in an impressive show of team strength, the SHP Cross Country squad won the American Division SEC Conference Championships at Branch Brook Park.

After winning the regular season conference title, The Prep came into the race knowing that they would have to execute in order to prevail.

After a swift and crowded first mile, the field began to splinter and the Pirates began to size up their competition and mark their Millburn and Montclair rivals. Gutting out the last 400 meters, the team was successful in squeezing four runners into the top ten and their five scorers into a 36 second compression.

They would secure the Conference title with 39 points- eleven points ahead of the runner-up Millburn.

Scoring would be led by senior Anthony Bottino (17:07-PR), sophomore Connor Schmit (17:13-PR), senior Danny Collum (17:18-PR), senior Ben Ferrara (17:27- BB PR) and senior Brady Sheaffer (17:44-PR).

The varsity was rounded out by strong efforts from AJ Villaruel (17:50-PR) and junior TJ Sparno (18:05- BB PR). They posted a strong team average of 17:22.
