Swim Team Advances to State Semis

The SHP Swim Team Defeated Bergen Catholic 97-73 in the quarterfinal round of the NJSIAA Non-Public A Tournament.  The Pirates captured 7 first place finishes out of 11 events, including all three relay events. 
Karl Burghardt, Kyler Alcebar, Richard Poplawski, and Aryan Kapoor led off the meet by winning the 200 Medley Relay in 1:36.92.  Burghardt was later joined by Patrick Miller, Vince Wong, and Cormac Rouse in winning the 200 Freestyle Relay in 1:30.36, and Burghardt, Rouse, and Poplawski were joined by Connor O'Neill in winning the 400 Free Relay in 3:19.80.
 
Richard Poplawski and Cormac Rouse led the way for the Pirates in the individual events, as the two junior stars won two events apiece.  Poplawski won the 200 IM in 1:55.26 and the 500 Freestyle in 4:44.31, and Rouse touched first in the 50 Freestyle (22.09) and the 100 Freestyle (47.99).
 
The Pirates will face top seeded St. Augustine Prep in the semifinal on Presidents Day, Monday February 20, at 530 PM at the Raritan Bay Area YMCA in Perth Amboy.
