Seton Hall Prep's Wrestling program includes three teams: Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman. The Varsity program competes in the Super Essex Conference, the Essex County Tournament, the District 10 Tournament, the Region 3 Tournament, and the NJSIAA State Tournament. In addition, the Varsity also travels to invitational tournaments in the tri-state area. The 2016 SHP  wrestling team won the Essex County Tournament title. Seton Hall Prep's most recent state tournament winner was Brendan Calas, who was crowned Champion in 2010 at 103 pounds, and in 2012 at 113 pounds. As a senior in 2012-13, Calas was ranked No. 10 nationally at 120 pounds by Wrestling USA Magazine.

Head Coach

Jack Decker

Full Bio

Upon graduating from Penn State in 2008, Jack Decker was appointed head wrestling coach at his high school alma mater, Seton Hall Prep. In his six years as head coach his teams have had a combined record of 81-53 (.604). They won the Essex County Tournament Title in 2016 and 2014, placed 2nd in 2010 and 2011, and finished 3rd in 2012. He has coached 22 District 10 champions, five Region 3 champions, four state place winners, and two state champions. As an NCAA Division 1 wrestler at Penn State, Decker had an impressive career placing 8th in the Big Ten Tourney at 184 pounds and won the prestigious East Stroudsburg Open. As a Prep wrestler, he won three District 10 titles, two Region 3 titles, and one Essex County Tournament title. He also qualified in 2001 for the NJSIAA State Tournament, placed 6th in in 2003 and 2nd in 2004. During his senior year he became the first wrestler in school history to win 100 matches, and at the end of his senior year, Jack was named Athlete of the Year unanimously by The Prep’s varsity coaches.
