Christopher Heintz is entering his fifteenth season as the head coach of Seton Hall Prep Tennis program. Seton Hall Prep Tennis is ushering in a new era in 2016 with five brand new tennis courts ready for action at the Kelly Athletic Complex. The new tennis facilities will help Seton Hall Prep compete in the Super Essex Conference, the best tennis conference in the state.
Heintz has posted a record of 203-120 and has led SHP into the North Parochial A playoffs for fourteen consecutive years. Heintz's teams have also earned two top-twenty rankings by The Star Ledger and won an Iron Hills Conference Championship in 2009 - the last year of the conference's existence. In 2010, Heintz was awarded the Monsignor Thomas J. Tuohy Award for his contributions to athletics at Seton Hall Prep.
Before coaching at SHP, Heintz coached the boy's team at Oratory Prep in Summit, compiling a record of 35-22 which included a Mountain Valley Conference Championship in 1998. Heintz played four years of varsity tennis at Oratory in high school, mostly as a doubles player. One of his favorite high school memories was soundly defeating the highly aclaimed Seton Hall Prep first doubles pairing in his final high school match in 1986. He then attended Fairfield University and made the men's squad as a walk-on. During his college career, Heintz played both singles and doubles, but has always preferred doubles competition.
Heintz lives in Berkeley Heights and has been married for twenty years to his wife Tina, whom he met at Fairfield University. They have two daughters, Emilia, born in 2003, and Angela, born in 2004.
