About

Football at The Prep is the only sport to be offered on four different levels: freshman, sophomore, JV, and varsity. All programs compete in the fall season, which officially runs from August through as late as early December depending on the State Tournament.

This 2015 season was the inaugural campaign for Head Coach Vito Campanile, and the Pirates went 6-3, attaining a winning percentage of .666.

A pillar of the football program since its inception in the 1890’s, hard-work is paramount to the success of the program. In the designated off-season, football players dedicate time to a unified strength and conditioning program, led by industry professionals and alumni who have competed at the highest level.

Football is one of the most iconic Prep sports, and is one of only five programs to have won a heralded Star-Ledger trophy.

In his inaugural season the Pirates went 6-3, earning victories over Union City, Columbia, East Orange, West Essex, Bloomfield, and West Orange. Prior to joining the Prep community, since 2009 Campanile has been the head coach at Westwood Regional High School, where his teams have had great success, including sectional championships in 2013 and 2014, a 47-17 record over six years, Bergen County’s longest win-streak (20), as well as the top offense in New Jersey in 2013, amassing 5,598 yards. Campanile was the Chase Bank/NY Jets Tri-State Area Coach of the Year in 2014 and Bergen County’s Coach of the Year in 2013. While leading the Group 2 school at Westwood, he has helped place 24 players on college rosters during his tenure as head coach. Before assuming the head coaching position at Westwood, Campanile was the very successful head football coach at Bergen Tech High School from 2002 to 2005. At Seton Hall Campanile will also take on the role of Assistant Learning Counselor. Campanile lives in Fairlawn with his wife of 12 years, Kristin, and their two children, 10-year-old Brooke, and 8-year-old Dominic.
