About
The Pirate Basketball program offers competition on three levels- Freshman, JV, and Varsity. All teams compete in the Super Essex Conference. The Varsity unit also plays in various charity/promotional events, the Essex County Tournament, the NJSIAA Non-Public A State Tournament, and, in 2015, South Carolina's Beachball Classic. The JV and Freshman squads host an annual four-team Christmas Tournament in addition to SEC and non-conference matchups.
Home games are held in the Tracey Gymnasium, an electric atmosphere filled with faithful alumni, passionate SHP staff, parents, and the lively Pirate Nation. The Basketball program competes in the winter season, which spans from late November through early March- the varsity schedule extending further with each state tournament victory.
